This was a very special evening for me, being my second time seeing Bobby and first time seeing DJ Logic. The venue was the Music Farm in Charleston and though the full moon over the stage was a painting, it felt like it was shining down on me. After an intro jam Bobby kicked it into full gear with an unbelievable first set. Truckin was spectacular, even with the messed up verse. The Loser that arose was heartfelt and flawless, and it went into Queen Jane very well. After hearing the segue into Big Boss Man, a burst of energy flew in the doors and the crowd was jumping. The rest of the first set was a medley of some of Ratdog's originals.
The second set blew me away from the beginning with a Candyman that sent Bobby wailing. Mexicali Blues was another good 2nd set opener but after that, the crowd was sent into a whirling vortex that brought Hell in a Bucket, The Other One (Jam), So Many Roads, and Ashes and Glass. The set closed with the most energy-filled NFA I have ever heard. Bobby sang like he was going to be up there all night and when the band left the stage he knew our love would not fade away, at least until he played an encore. And no other encore would have satisfied my soul like this Johnny B Goode. At the Farm this night, Bobby wasn't just playing a concert; he was throwing a party few will forget. Thank you Bobby!
