Reviews
The Kahunaville summer stage is a great place to see a concert. You look right out on the Wilmington skyline, and to the right is the Christina River, offering a little breeze. I was most pleased that ratdog came here, it being my hometown. On to the concert.... First of all, The Trichromes, whom I had heard mixed reviews about, were actually pretty good. I don't really like their new stuff as much, but they didn't play too much of it. They did play a nice Sugaree, NSB, and a Hendrix-style Watchtower (their guitarist played with his teeth; I don't know how he can stand that). So they provided a good opener for what was to be an amazing performance by Ratdog. My friend called the opener, Me and My Uncle, which was a good choice. That went into Candyman , which was also great. That went into Dark Star, one of my all-time favorites, and it was very well played. Dark Star went into Lost Sailor, also a good tune. That went into Saint of Circumstance which was very good as well, but these guys just kept on fuckin playing. Then came Tennesse Jed! I love this song! Bob had the crowd singing along; it was great. Then that went into HIAB which was solid. West L.A. Fadeaway was next, and was pretty good. Then into Aiko Aiko, which is such a cool song. The crowd was dancin', singing and romancin', and the music never stopped, pun intended. But it literally didn't. The Bass/Drums was cool... got to see what DJ Logic was all about. The final four tunes before the encore made the night for me. He's Gone -> Dark Star -> China Cat -> Rider. Wow. This was amazing and intense and, well, orgasmic. It really was something special. The encore, Gloria, is a good tune, but i must admit i have no idea who wrote it. This was my first Ratdog concert, and I loved it. I hope Bob and Boys return to the great tax-free state of Delaware soon. Thanks.
